Dr Bernard Valman is a prolific author and editor of publications in the field of Paediatrics. He has written books on Child Health which have been translated into many languages.
He is shown holding a bound volume of the Journal he edited for many years, Archives of Disease in Childhood, the Journal of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health.
He sits in front of the coat of arms of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, which, as the College Archivist, he helped to design.
The portrait has been commissioned by his colleagues at Northwick Park Hospital in London where Dr Valman is a Consultant Paediatrician.
