Oil paintings from live sittings in the studio, from photos or by using a combination of the two. Bing Jones paints and draws portraits of his sitters in London, Yorkshire and abroad. Portraits of children and family groups are a speciality, as is formal or institutional work. Traditional methods and modern effects give both a lasting and a contemporary feel.

News - Recent commissions
These include portraits of members of the legal and medical professions, children and a full family portrait including five figures, interior, landscape and dog.

On the right is a good example of a speedy oil portrait. This was done in five or six sittings. It's painted in oil and in tempera and if you click to look at the enlargement you can see the brush marks are all still there and they somehow describe the important parts of the face and expression. I hope it gives the feeling that you know the sitter. These head and shoulder oil sketches make a traditional yet lively portrait.
